A.G. Kitchen has closed in Silver Spring. The shocking development caught many potential diners off-guard at the Downtown Silver Spring development. A representative for the restaurant company confirmed in a statement that the location has closed, and said a "new concept" is planned for the space. Whether that new concept will be executed by the A.G. Kitchen company is unclear.
The restaurant lasted barely 18 months, despite a prominent downtown location. Celebrity chef Alex Garcia's original New York City location remains open.
The interior was nice, but the food/drinks were pretty underwhelming and reviews pretty much universally found that to be the case. SS has far too many excellent latino restaurants for the "celebrity" to squeak by w/a mediocre product.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the new concept. AG was better than the previous Macaroni Grill, but that's about it.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who has visited this restaurant recently is unsurprised by this development.
ReplyDeleteIt was great when they first opened but started going downhill recently when I visited during the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm not surprised.
ReplyDeleteI'm giving the new chicken joint across the way less then a year. The former Austin Grill property.
ReplyDeleteI will most definitely take that bet. Went a couple weeks back and even on a Tuesday it was full. And it's not a "chicken joint" - maybe have minimal knowledge of the subject prior to wasting everyone's time w/your opinion next time?
DeleteI am saddened by any closing in Silver Spring. We went a few times, trying to keep our money in Silver Spring businesses when possible. The food as passable but the service was consistently poor. It is as if you were forgotten once you gave the order. Indifferent and disengaged. I hope the next concept delivers better value and service.
