I can never keep the anti-county talking points straight. Granted, neither can those who spout them. How do you think we've had my fellow Tacky Park resident Marc Elrich on county council for over a decade? Thank Robin Ficker that we'll be freed from some of this nonsense in two years.WestBerkeleyFlatshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11445701958269444184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1664019666098561247.post-71017706992052678092017-02-11T08:48:37.636-05:002017-02-11T08:48:37.636-05:001:08: We don't know the exact wages idX is pay...1:08: We don't know the exact wages idX is paying. For the sake of argument, assume it was $11.16. That's almost $4 above Virginia's minimum wage. A skilled job like this leads to advances down the road by promotion or move to another factory. Is it really better for the unemployed to be fully reliant to welfare rather than make $11.16 an hour?

I'm pretty confident that "I don't want jobs in Montgomery County" is not a winning argument. Check out the unemployment rates among black youth in MoCo. This manufacturer isn't even from (or relocating to) the same metro region as MoCo, for god's sake.

Not to mention they're terrible jobs; "150 skilled manufacturing jobs" my butt. They pay an average of $11.16/hour, according to Glassdoor. So you want MoCo to shell out a subsidy (Spotsylvania is spending over $1.5M - way to leave that factor out of your post) in order to attract jobs that'll in turn attract low wage employees who then would likely need additional govt assistance to make ends meet? That'd be a smart financial move by the county, in your head? "Vote Dyer! He'll turn MoCo into rural Virginia or Alabama in no time!"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1664019666098561247.post-43504295244220796402017-02-10T22:25:50.316-05:002017-02-10T22:25:50.316-05:00Try reading the article - it answers your question...Try reading the article - it answers your question in excruciating detail.
