Olive Garden coming to Wheaton Plaza

Unlimited breadsticks are coming to Wheaton. Olive Garden is the latest addition to the dining choices at Westfield Wheaton Plaza. It will be located in the upper level along with Bar Louie, by the new AMC Theatres cineplex.

I will dismiss any hipster complaints about this, because I personally couldn't be more pleased. I want Olive Garden, and there isn't a single one here in Montgomery County. That's just plain un-American.

  1. Not everyone who sees through Olive Garden's menu is a "hipster."

    1. Olive Garden will get hesitant pass, but Cracker Barrel...NEVER! Worst food and slow service...every one I've been to...so no more!

  4. Yay...the (white) suburbanization of Wheaton is coming. I'd prefer we get some locally owned American fare...heck I'd even take the new poutine place going in over in College Park over chain garbage like Olive Garden.

  5. @12:55, who cares what you and the other anti-growth hicks think about national retail/restaurant chains you folx don't have to spend money at those establishments.

  6. I can't wait for some national chains to come to Wheaton. I am very excited. There are plenty of pupusa, Peruvian chicken, and other Latin American joints. We need variety of choices and Olive Garden is a welcomed one.!!!!

    1. I agree with Anonymous. Everyone spouts off about the "diversity" of food in Wheaton, but really the majority of it is Asian and Hispanic cuisine. The only "Italian" food we have is the phone booth sized "Christina's", and the food there is so-so, and the prices are high.

  7. It doesn't have to be either/or, it can be both/and. Both diverse ethnic eateries and national chains. I appreciate our diverse restaurants -- I hope Wheaton keeps that. On the other hand, sometimes the consistency and economy of a chain restaurant is exactly what you want. Bring it.

    1. I agree, Stefani. And this is a net gain for Wheaton, since Olive Garden is not replacing a mom-and-pop restaurant that closed.

    1. The most recent time I asked Olive Garden, they did not respond. They have never from the beginning. My source told me Bar Louie and Olive Garden were both coming to the mall. Bar Louie did, and I've heard nothing suggesting Olive Garden had backed out.
