Low-rise buildings, including a church and a bank, have been demolished at the future site of the Ripley East apartment tower in downtown Silver Spring. To be located at 8384 Georgia Avenue, Ripley East will house 360 apartments and a significant 17000 SF of retail space.
The building will be one component of the larger Ripley District, including the Solaire Silver Spring and Eleven55 Ripley apartment tower. For the moment, the site is a desolate, rocky lot.

I'm pretty sure the building will be addressed 8250 Georgia Ave. They're still working on pulling permits. Studio Plaza across the street should begin construction by the end of the year.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of good will come out of the demolition project and the subsequent re-building that will take place on the site. So good to know that there will be something besides an eyesore. I hope that the work gets done quickly and that there isn’t a lot of drag going on.
