Wheaton redevelopment update

Contractors are continuing to drill boreholes at Wheaton Parking Lot 13, for the 150 geothermal wells that will provide 30% of the energy for the future Montgomery County government office building on the site. Approximately 3 of the 650' deep holes are being drilled per day.

The demolition of a median in the center of Reedie Drive is also taking place this week. Completion of the office building and a new town square is scheduled for April 2020.

  1. "The median in the center of Reedie Drive is also taking place this week."

First, a median is by definition "in the center" of a given street. So that wording is redundant.

Second, How does a median "take place this week"? A median is part of a street, not an event.

  2. 8:16: That was a typo. It was supposed to say "demolition of the median." Thanks for pointing that out. It has been corrected.

    1. I'm looking forward to having a more modern way to pay for parking when attending Planning Board meetings. Hopefully no more having to run out to put coins in a meter during the meeting! Much easier walk from Metro, too.

  4. Don't the meters at MNCPPC allow payment by phone?

    1. 2:24: Not the ones in the surface lot. If the ones in the garage do, it wasn't clearly marked the times I've parked there.

  5. Thanks for the update and I trust you'll continue with the status of the project construction, as well as the town square, such as it is...
