A Montgomery County Councilmember who has had trouble obeying the law in the past found himself in handcuffs Wednesday. Council President Hans Riemer was arrested on the steps of the U.S. Capitol by U.S. Capitol Police yesterday, after refusing an order to disperse following an immigration rally.
"I was arrested today," Riemer wrote on Facebook last evening. Riemer has promised to introduce legislation to declare Montgomery County officially a "sanctuary county" for illegal immigrants, according to Gustavo Torres, Executive Director of CASA de Maryland.
Riemer has run afoul of the law in the past, including violating his own Open Data law this past spring, when he directed that a file required to be posted on the County website be removed. In 2014, he appeared to have inside information on illegal activity in the County's Department of Liquor Control, over which he has oversight authority, but waited to report it until after he was safely reelected that November.
My only question is: will the US Capitol Police (please) keep him?

ReplyDelete10:36: Regular readers have no clue what you're talking about. I regularly have tons of scoops and exclusive coverage of the East County. One of my recent articles on the KFC killer, which exposed he had been in police custody before the murder, was the subject of an hour-long radio program recently.
DeleteGreat spam ad for competing website, but I've been around longer and am cranking out more comprehensive coverage of the entire East County on a daily basis. Last time I checked, Silver Spring is part of Montgomery County, under the rule of the County Council.
Stop spewing hate on me, and I'll keep doing what I'm known for, hyperlocal news.
10:36: Whoa, just saw that list of supposed scoops - I'm the one who BROKE THE STORY about PJ's Coffee. A MONTH AGO.

So much for looking elsewhere for hyperlocal coverage of Silver Spring! It's right here on East MoCo.
Robert Dyer's only reason for the separate blogs is so that he can keep his more explicitly racist content (Rockville HS "rape", tearful lament for Confederate statue, defense of Alt-Right vehicular homicide in Charlotte) away from the eyes of his Bethesda readers.
ReplyDelete11:22: Let me tell you, Bart Simpson, that there's nothing racist about factual crime reporting. I did cover the Rockville HS gang rape on the Bethesda blog. There's no "defense" of vehicular homicide, idiot. Simply my factual assertion, just confirmed by Charlottesville independent report, that the city failed to close off the event area to vehicles. That makes you the buffoon, Bart. In general, most in Bethesda don't give a **** about MS-13, so - duh!, moron - it tends to be more relevant to people who ACTUALLY LIVE UNDER THE THREAT OF MS-13, in Wheaton, Rockville, etc. Think about it, Einstein Bart, especially when you make defamatory statements that could end you up in court for defamation.
DeleteYou go, Hans! It's always good to see people who care enough about something to actually get off their butt and do something.
ReplyDelete2:32: Hopefully he can now get started on that $120,000,000 budget shortfall.
DeleteWhat's there to "get started on?" Isn't everyone in agreement that trimming county departments 2% is the way to go?
Delete1:44: Ike Leggett wants the 2% trim; several Council members have rejected that idea, so, no, everyone is not in agreement.

ReplyDeleteAs seen on Justice With Judge Jeanine
In her opening statement on "Justice," Judge Jeanine Pirro called out police officers who support sanctuary cities.
The judge said that these officers have a decision to make, and if that decision is tough, "get the hell out of law enforcement," she said.
"I hate to say this; everyone of you in law enforcement who bought into this liberal nonsense also has blood on your hands," Pirro said.
She continued with the heated attack on these officers.
"If this is a tough one for you and you are going to start listening to the ACLU or some liberal mayor who doesn't give a damn about you, your contract or your oath, directing that you release the wanted criminal alien out the side door, then maybe you should rethink this and go into social work," she said.
"You are too damn dumb to be in law enforcement."

Authorities in Fairfax County, Virginia, said they have found two sets of human remains in a Fairfax park.
Fairfax County Police Chief Edwin C. Roessler Jr. said that the bodies were discovered late Thursday night in Holmes Run Park and have been transferred to the state medical examiner for autopsy and identification. Roessler said the department’s gang unit had received a tip that bodies were buried in the park.
“It’s more than likely the recovery of remains will be linked to another set of gang murders,” Roessler said at a Friday morning news conference. “As your chief, I will not tolerate any crime in the county, especially gang homicides.”
In 2014 authorities discovered two bodies in Holmes Run Park, slayings that were eventually linked to the MS-13 gang. Roessler declined to comment on what gang might be involved in the current investigation, but MS-13 has seen a resurgence in the area in recent months and has been linked to two other killings in Fairfax and Prince William counties this year.
The search started Wednesday at the park near the 6000 block of Crater Place in the Lincolnia section of the county. Police said the bodies were discovered about 300 yards into the park.
The bodies were found in the woods on a steep incline a few hundred feet behind a quiet cul-de-sac. One body was buried at the top of the hill, the other at the bottom. Roessler declined to speculate on how long the bodies had been in the park.
On Thursday, police said they had discovered “potential evidence” related to a crime during a search of the park. Investigators were seen placing items in evidence bags behind a home.
Fairfax County police also combed a park in the Falls Church, Virginia, area on Wednesday, but the search was called off when nothing turned up.
Roessler said police need the public’s help in locating the suspects in the killings.
He also said that he did not know whether the current case has links to several overlapping MS-13 cases in Maryland and Virginia that have resulted in 16 arrests of teens and young adults.
One recent MS-13 related case involved the killing of 15-year-old Damaris A. Reyes Rivas, of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Her body was found near an industrial area in Springfield in February, and 10 people have been charged in connection with her killing. Police said she was held against her will, assaulted and then slain in early January.
The girl’s mother said she had fallen in with MS-13 and had voluntarily left home in mid-December. Her case is also related to the disappearance and then return of two other Fairfax County teenagers.
Two of those arrested in Damaris’s killing are also charged in the disappearance of Lizzy Rivera Colindres, 16, who left her home with her 5-month-old son in January and then came back in February. And Damaris’s killing also has links to the disappearance of 17-year-old Lorena Romero Iraheta of Alexandria, who left home in January and came back last month.
Police in Prince William County have said Iraheta had a relationship with a 21-year-old man who was found dead along the Potomac River in Dumfries. Six people have been charged in the slaying of Christian Alexander Sosa Rivas, and police said his death had connections to MS-13.
Two of those charged in the Sosa Rivas case were arraigned Friday in Prince William County General District Court and held without bond. Police in Fairfax County have said that information they received in Rivas’s killing led them to discover Damaris’s killing.
Roessler acknowledged Fairfax County is seeing a spike in gang violence and implored parents who think their children may be in trouble with gangs to contact police.
“This is out of control,” Roessler said. “These are teenagers and mainly young adults that are involved in this.”
Wow what a fiery unexpected open from Judge Pirro directed at police/ law enforcement officers and officials who side with sanctuary city leaders! There is nothing wrong with anything the Judge says here, cops who in fact choose to side with leaders of sanctuary towns/cities/states are violating their oath of service and should "get the hell out of law enforcement".
DeleteThere is no middle ground or gray area, either you enforce the law AND PROTECT THE PUBLIC, you swore an oath to, or resign. You cannot pick and choose what laws to follow, you are not a god. How dare any of you allow criminal illegal aliens to walk free when you would do everything within your power to keep criminals who are US citizens in jail or brought to justice. Since when did a illegal alien murderer, rapist, thief etc become untouchable?
If you are so weak you bow down to "namby, pamby, bleeding heart, left-wing socialist, political whore" leaders to violate your oath you have no right to wear that badge on your chest. Where is your allegiance, to illegals and community leaders who are blatantly violating the law or the people (friends, family, neighbors) who entrust you with their security? Pirro is correct, those of you who enable these leaders violating the law have blood on your hands. What are you going to do when those you love end up a victim of those you allowed to walk free?
DO YOUR DAMN JOB! Just as Pirro spells you need to notify ICE "quietly, anonymously, behind closed door, underground, special hotline, email or carrier pigeon" before another innocent American is killed by people WHO HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING HERE!
Now make a choice uphold your oath to God and Country, or to man and government. If you choose the latter, TURN IN YOUR BADGE because in the eyes of Americans you are an enemy to the Republic.

Andrew Harmon Seems to be a lot of dead bodies popping up in MoCo!! 8 homicides in 2013, 30 homicides in 2015, wonder what the numbers will be for 2017?? We still have 3 weeks to go, so whatever the number is currently....add one or two. This is what happens when a county is run by corrupt Democrats!!! Wake up people!!
Here's the latest on that death:
