Woman found dead in Burtonsville pond

Around 3:40 PM Wednesday, Montgomery County police officers responded to what the department describes only as a "suspicious situation" in the 14200 block of Ballinger Terrace in Burtonsville. Arriving on the scene, officers found a deceased woman in a pond.

Police have not released any further details on how the woman was discovered at this time. As you can see in this Google Maps image, there are several ponds in the vicinity of Ballinger Terrace, one being directly behind the townhomes that line the street.

Detectives are now conducting a death investigation. An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the cause of death.
