Purple Line construction to intensify in downtown Silver Spring in March (Video+Photos)

March is coming in like a lion for those in the parts of downtown Silver Spring where the Purple Line light rail construction project is rapidly advancing. Several zones will see heavy activity - the Silver Spring Transit Center, Colesville Road, areas along the CSX main line tracks, and key points of the downtown street grid on the future rail line's route.

Crews will be working 7 days a week along the CSX tracks near Fenwick Lane and Apple Avenue all month long. Hours of work will be 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM seven days a week. Other crews will relocate utilities along Bonifant Street between Ramsey Avenue and Fenton Street, with some of the work being performed overnight. You'll also encounter temporary lane and sidewalk closures along Wayne Avenue between Fenton and Flower Avenue, between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, seven days a week.
