Amina Thai opens in downtown Silver Spring (Photos)
Amina Thai has opened at 8624 Colesville Road in downtown Silver Spring. Billing itself as the only halal Thai restaurant in the DC area, this is the second Amina Thai location in Montgomery County. The first was in Rockville.
Looks like the used the exact same font on their new canopy as La Malinche next door. I sure wish the restaurants on this strip would get more creative with their storefronts than just popping on the cheapest canopy on it. I realize architectural treatments are much more expensive, but Kao Thai down the street is a good example of doing something different. And don't get me started with every restaurant in town thinking they can't exist without a flashing "open" sign.
Seems like an odd idea to try and break into the Thai scene in DTSS where we already have quite a few very good options. Heck, it's 50 feet from one of them - Kao Thai.
