EL FOGON DE WHEATON ADDS HOOKAH

El Fogón de Wheaton, the new Tex-Mex/Latin American restaurant and lounge in Wheaton, has added hookah as a new feature. For those new to this trend now found around the world, and in the DC area, hookah is a flavored-tobacco smoking system that utilizes water pipes. It has its origins in ancient Persia and India.

Offhand, I can't think of another place in Wheaton with hookah, but if you know of one or more, please post them in the comments below. So if you are looking for bars with hookah in Wheaton, El Fogón is the place to go.

EL FOGON DE WHEATON GRAND OPENING FRIDAY, JUNE 6!

El Fogón de Wheaton will open its doors for the first time this Friday, June 6, at 5:00 PM. The new Tex-Mex/Latin American restaurant and lounge replaces Irene's Pupusas at 11300 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton.

Enjoy complimentary drinks and food from 5:00 - 10:00 PM, and receive 25% off your dinner check. El Fogón is within walking distance of the Wheaton Metro station (Red Line). And - as you can see in the above photo - a Metro bus stop right at the door.

El Fogón de Wheaton, the new Tex-Mex/Latin restaurant and lounge taking over the old Irene's/Sky Bar location at 11300 Georgia Avenue, has posted temporary banners on the building. It's going to be quite a sizable place, and if the The Parva in Bethesda is any indication, this should be a new nightlife hotspot in Wheaton. Looking forward to this opening!

STEVE MORRIS, FERGUS KENNEDY - LIVE IRISH MUSIC AT THE LIMERICK PUB IN WHEATON TONIGHT

Stop by the Limerick Pub in my old stomping grounds of downtown Wheaton tonight.

Steve Morris and Fergus Kennedy are appearing live at the pub tonight at 8:00 PM, for an evening of Irish music.

They've also got a couple of great entrees this weekend:

Leg of Lamb Sandwich is a hand carved leg of lamb in rosemary au jus, placed on a toasted Kaiser roll. With your choice of potato, it is $14.50.

Their Seafood Platter features lightly-fried, fresh beer-battered cod, and panko-breaded jumbo shrimp, oysters and jumbo lump crab balls. With your choice of potato and veggie or salad, it's a deal at $17.50.

Limerick Pub is highly-rated on Yelp and Trip Advisor, and is located at 11301 Elkin Street in downtown Wheaton.
