Shoplifting leads to drug bust in Wheaton

Montgomery County police responded to a report of shoplifting at a grocery store in Wheaton late Monday morning, May 18, 2026. The theft was reported at 11:49 AM at a supermarket in the 12000 block of Georgia Avenue. That is at the Wheaton Park Shopping Center, where H Mart is anchor tenant. Upon searching the suspect, narcotics equipment was allegedly found.

Shoplifting incident escalates into drug bust in Silver Spring

A shoplifting incident escalated at a downtown Silver Spring supermarket on January 28, 2026, when the suspect had more than store merchandise on their person. Police responded to a shoplifting report at a grocery store in the 900 block of Thayer Avenue at 2:48 PM Wednesday. Officers determined the suspect possessed drug paraphernalia. Safeway is located at 909 Thayer Avenue.

Cocaine bust at grocery store in Aspen Hill

Another alleged shoplifter was allegedly also in possession of cocaine, Montgomery County police officers found in Aspen Hill late Wednesday afternoon, November 12, 2025. Police were called to the Aspen Hill Shopping Center to investigate a shoplifting incident at the Giant grocery store at 13781 Connecticut Avenue at 5:35 PM Wednesday. The suspect was found to have cocaine on their person. A similar cocaine-shoplifting bust took place last Friday in Wheaton.

Cocaine bust at Wheaton electronics store

A shoplifting call turned into a contraband haul for Montgomery's Finest at an electronics store in Wheaton early Friday afternoon, November 7, 2025. Officers were called to a store in the 10900 block of Georgia Avenue at 12:12 PM Friday. There is a Best Buy store on that block. The alleged shoplifter was also found to have cocaine and a concealed weapon on their person.

Police investigate weapon, drug possession at Blake High School

Montgomery County police were called to James Hubert Blake High School at 300 Norwood Road in Cloverly last Thursday morning, June 5, 2025. Officers were summoned to the school at 8:00 AM. They were called to investigate alleged possession of an unspecified weapon, and possession of marijuana. Thanks to our pro-drug Montgomery County and Maryland elected officials, marijuana use has surged in Montgomery County Public Schools in recent years.

A candid and frank report in the Blake student newspaper last year noted an increase in marijuana use by Blake students, citing the legalization of marijuana for recreational use as having boosted its availability. "You’ll almost always catch a whiff of marijuana walking down certain halls," the article noted. "With the legalization of the drug, more and more students indulge for no other reason than because they can. Marijuana consumption has affected Blake in many ways; bathrooms get locked, hall passes are cut down, and students aren’t as focused and ready to learn more than usual."

You have to ask yourself why your elected officials want you - and your kids - zonked out on drugs. There aren't any answers to that question that would reflect well on our politicians. Heckuva job, Brownie!

Drug, weapon possession investigated at school in Wheaton

Montgomery County police were called to Odessa Shannon Middle School at 11800 Monticello Avenue in the Kemp Mill area of Wheaton on Tuesday morning, May 20, 2025. Officers were summoned to the public school at 10:54 AM Tuesday. They investigated the alleged possession of unspecified weapon(s) and marijuana. It starts at the top, folks, with the bad example set by our pro-drug Montgomery County Council. Shameful!

Montgomery County police raid Silver Spring crack house, arrest 11

Montgomery County police recently received multiple complaints from residents about drug activity in the 12200 block of Selfridge Road in Silver Spring. In response, officers and specialized units raided a home on that block last Friday, March 7, 2025. The home is located near the two highway corridors of Veirs Mill Road and Randolph Road, and two busy shopping centers.

Officers found 30 people inside and outside of the house, and observed evidence of the drug activity neighbors had reported to them. Eleven of the thirty people were arrested. Seventeen outstanding arrest warrants were served.

One suspect was charged with felony possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. A second suspect was charged with a felony nuisance property violation. Two other individuals are facing misdemeanor possession charges.

After the raid, the Montgomery County Police Department issued a statement encouraging residents to report any similar concerns or activity in their neighborhoods. Anyone with information related to drug activity or other criminal concerns is encouraged to contact MCPD’s non-emergency line at 301-279-8000, or to submit an anonymous tip through http://www.p3tips.com/. 

Montgomery County police make 2 drug busts in Silver Spring

Montgomery County police brought in quite a holiday haul of cash and contraband in two Silver Spring drug busts Tuesday night, December 3, 2024. One was in the Northwest Park area, and the other in downtown Silver Spring. Officers with the police department's Holiday Crime Detail & Patrol were involved, 3rd District Police Commander Captain Jason Cokinos said. Police recovered drugs, two handguns - at least one of which had been reported stolen, and about $24,000 in suspected drug money. The suspects in both cases are facing felony charges.

SEXUAL ASSAULT IN WHEATON, DRUG ARREST AT KENNEDY HS - WHEATON - GLENMONT CRIME REPORT

A sexual assault was reported Wednesday in the Kemp Mill area of Wheaton, according to crime data. A narcotics arrest was made this past Friday at Kennedy High School in Glenmont. And a robbery was reported Thursday on Norlee Drive.
