Strong-arm robbery in Wheaton


Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery in Wheaton early yesterday afternoon, September 19, 2026. The assault and robbery were reported in the 2300 block of University Boulevard West at 1:20 PM. It appears to have taken place at the Wheaton Manor shopping center. Once again, the troubling trend of violent crimes increasingly being perpetrated during daylight hours continues.

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery in Aspen Hill on Friday afternoon, September 4, 2026. The assault and robbery were reported on Pear Tree Lane at 3:54 PM Friday. They occurred while the victim was waiting at a bus stop.

Strong-arm robbery in downtown Silver Spring


Montgomery County police are investigating a strong-arm robbery that took place in downtown Silver Spring early yesterday morning, September 4, 2026. The robbery was reported in the 8300 block of Fenton Street at 3:30 AM Friday. According to police, an unspecified number of of suspects assaulted the victim, stole property from them, and fled on foot. No suspect descriptions have been released as of this writing.

Purse snatched in Silver Spring


Montgomery County police responded to a report of a purse snatching in the White Oak area of Silver Spring on Wednesday afternoon, September 2, 2026. It was reported in the 11300 block of Lockwood Drive at 4:28 PM. The victim was waiting at a bus stop when her purse was forcibly snatched. Fortunately, the robber was successfully taken into custody by police. It's a troubling but timely reminder to be alert to your surroundings, wear your purse across your body rather than dangling from one shoulder, keep it positioned in front of you if possible, and, finally, be prepared to let it go if a violent robber is absolutely determined to pry it away from you.

Strong-arm robbery in Wheaton


Montgomery County police were called to the scene of a strong-arm robbery in Wheaton last night. The assault and robbery were reported in the 12200 block of Veirs Mill Road at 9:00 PM Tuesday. That is a busy commercial area around the intersection of Veirs Mill and Randolph Road. According to police, an unspecified number of suspects pushed the victim to the ground, and robbed them of property. No description of the suspect(s) has been released at this time.

Strong-arm robbery at restaurant in downtown Silver Spring


Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at a restaurant in downtown Silver Spring on Wednesday afternoon, July 22, 2026. The assault and robbery took place at a restaurant in the 800 block of Ellsworth Drive at 4:47 PM. According to police, the adult male suspect pushed the adult male victim to the floor inside the restaurant, and stole unspecified property from him. Police have not released a description of the suspect, and have not identified the specific restaurant where the incident took place.

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery in a quiet residential neighborhood in Silver Spring early last night, June 6, 2026. The robbery and assault were reported in the 10400 block of Hayes Avenue at 6:30 PM Saturday. That is in the Cameron Heights subdivision off of Dennis Avenue, a couple of blocks west of Sligo Middle School.

Strong-arm robbery in White Oak


Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery in the White Oak area of Silver Spring on the afternoon of March 16, 2026. The assault and robbery were reported in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Avenue at 1:15 PM. Two suspects assaulted the juvenile male victim and absconded with his property.

Strong-arm robbery in broad daylight in residential neighborhood in Silver Spring


Violent crime during daylight hours continues to trend upward in Montgomery County. In the latest example, Montgomery County police were called after a strong-arm robbery occurred in the Glenmont area of Silver Spring on Friday afternoon, March 13, 2026. The assault and robbery were reported in the 12800 block of Holdridge Road at 3:27 PM Friday. That is in the Glenmont Hills Heights subdivision off of Weller Road, a quiet residential area.

Police arrest suspect in Aspen Hill Papa John's assault and robbery


Montgomery County police have arrested a suspect in the October 8, 2025 robbery at the Papa John's pizzeria at Northgate Plaza in Aspen Hill. Dean Steve Bodjona-Ali, 20, of Olney has been charged with robbery, 2nd-degree assault, and theft. He is accused of stealing a pizza that had been ordered by someone else, and of assaulting an employee who tried to stop him. Bodjona-Ali is being held without bond, pending a bond hearing.

Violent home invasion in Silver Spring


Montgomery County police are seeking the public's help in identifying two suspects in a violent home invasion in the Colesville Farm Estates neighborhood in Silver Spring. Police say that the owner of a home in the 800 block of Orchard Way was attempting to leave his residence in the early morning hours of November 12, 2025. He was not aware that two male suspects were waiting on his porch. The two began striking the victim in the head, dragged him back into the house, and demanded money. He complied, and the two assailants fled. The victim was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

Man jumped by gang of 4 robbers in Long Branch area of Silver Spring


We have the Gang of Eight in Congress, but in Long Branch, a man was jumped by the Gang of Four on November 8, 2025. Montgomery County police say the adult male victim was in the 300 block of Domer Avenue at 9:04 PM that night when he was surrounded by four adult male suspects. They proceeded to physically assault the victim, and stole property from him.

Police describe the suspects only as four Hispanic males, ages 20 to 29. If you have any information that could assist detectives in closing this case, call police at (301) 279-8000.
