More penguins for downtown Silver Spring (Photos)
The penguins of the restored mural near the Silver Spring Metro station will have some company in a few years. An extended-stay hotel in the works at 8600 Georgia Avenue will have its own penguin-themed public art, which will be visible from the town's cursed Silver Spring Transit Center.
The hotel's massive building-side-height mural will feature diving birds of the tuxedoed variety entering ostensibly-polar waters. It comes with a minor caveat: Should the adjacent property redevelop, the new penguins could end up being blocked from view.

Where's your usual hand-wringing of the loss of gas stations in MoCo?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this!

ReplyDeleteBut they would still Be There. :)
(I wish they could coat the Silver Spring Metro Station with penguins in murals.)
