Silver Strings opening could be weeks away in Silver Spring

The sign is up at Silver Strings, a new restaurant and bar opening soon at 8630 Colesville Road in downtown Silver Spring. A representative for the business said it could open in a few weeks. The interior build-out and furnishings are quite impressive. Looks like a very promising live music venue and dining addition to downtown Silver Spring.

 

Wendy's reopens at Wheaton Plaza (Photos)

Wendy's has reopened at Wheaton Plaza, after temporarily closing for renovations. It looks very modern and fresh compared to the previous brick design. They've even got a fresh layer of asphalt in the drive-thru. The corporate office needs to update the national website, which is still saying the restaurant is closed. Annoy the Montgomery County Council and order a Baconator today.

Sign installed at The Republic Garden in Silver Spring (Video+Photos)

The permanent sign was installed on the front of The Republic Garden yesterday. Located at 8402 Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring, the restaurant and lounge is expected to officially open this week, following some soft-opening events.

Wheaton Library opening September 8, 2019

The new Wheaton Library and Recreation Center will open on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Opening ceremonies will begin with a ribbon-cutting at 2:00 PM that afternoon. The new facility is located on the combined sites of the old facilities at the corner of Georgia and Arcola Avenues.

We knew Salon 8227 was being converted into a hookah lounge, and now we know what it will be called. The permanent sign has been installed above the storefront of Cabana Hookah Lounge at 8227 Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring. Construction on the interior continues behind the papered-over windows.

Vitoria's Kitchen opening in Wheaton

Vitoria's Kitchen is coming to the dining scene in Wheaton. They are describing their menu as Latin American cuisine. The restaurant will be located at 2302-2304 Price Avenue, in the shadow of the Safeway building. Sounds like another promising dining option in easy walking distance to the Wheaton Metro and future town plaza, for diners coming from elsewhere in the area.
