GEORGIA AVENUE BUS RAPID TRANSIT LINE WOULD CONDEMN 155 PROPERTIES ALONG THE ROUTE

Add another item to the list of why Montgomery County Bus Rapid Transit is such a bad idea. Now the Maryland State Highway Administration has concluded that such a BRT facility along Georgia Avenue would require 155 properties to be condemned. Those properties are located on Georgia between Wheaton and Olney. Which obviously also includes Aspen Hill, and Glenmont in the eminent domain circus.

The SHA calculation takes into account what facilities will be required for pedestrians, bicyclists, automobiles and 2 dedicated lanes for BRT. And the width Georgia Avenue will have to be widened to, to accommodate such a design.

What a disaster! And they expect landowners to support the idea?
