EPA boss to headline 2nd annual Montgomery County GreenFest on April 30 in Takoma Park

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency administrator Gina McCarthy will be the featured speaker at Montgomery County's second annual GreenFest on Saturday, April 30, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Takoma Park Community Center at 7500 Maple Avenue. Also appearing at the festival will be Takoma Park Mayor Kate Stewart and County Executive Ike Leggett.

This free event for all ages will include over 80 exhibitors, panels of experts, a free film, live music, an electric car exhibit, book readings, crafts and activities for children.

Partnering on the event are the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, Montgomery Parks, the cities of Takoma Park, Gaithersburg and Rockville, University of Maryland Extension, Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College, and four local community green groups — Bethesda Green, GreenWheaton, Poolesville Green, and Silver Spring Green.

Parking will be available at Piney Branch Elementary School and public lots, with accessible parking behind the library. The City of Takoma Park is sponsoring a free, accessible shuttle that will rotate between the Takoma Park Metro station, nearby parking and downtown Takoma Park to the event.
