Taste of Wheaton canceled for 2016

The Taste of Wheaton has been canceled for this Sunday, June 5, 2016, due to expected severe thunderstorms that day. According to Montgomery County, it will not be rescheduled and is simply canceled for this year.

“The decision to cancel Wheaton's signature event was not taken lightly,” Mid-County Regional Service Center Director Luisa Montero-Diaz said in a statement. “While disappointing to all of us, we had to consider the safety of our vendors, performers and attendees.”

High winds, hail and strong lightning are forecast for Sunday's storms.

  1. Great call! Rained all of 10 minutes around 7 pm. The forecast was that it was to start after the event was scheduled to end. Great job MoCo.

    1. it was a good call based on the weather forecast at the time. Wheatondenizen is completely wrong in that the forecast was that the rain was support to start after the event.

  3. Think it was the right call based on the forecast. I'm sure the organizers are super pissed at how wrong the weathermen were.
