Silver Spring construction update: Solaire 8250 Georgia Avenue (Photos)

Construction at Washington Property Company's Solaire 8250 Georgia Avenue apartment building is beginning to rise to street level. The building will be the company's second in Silver Spring's Ripley District, and its fourth Solaire-branded property in the area.
With a height of 20 stories, the Solaire 8250 will hold 338 apartments and 15000 SF of retail space, including outdoor seating for dining. Parking will be located in a three-level undergound garage. Amenities will include a resort-style rooftop swimming pool and deck, cyber cafe, private courtyard, fitness center, and a club room complete with kitchen, library, flatscreen TV, fireplace and game room. Apartments will be a mix of studios and 1-and-2 bedroom units.
Lendlease is the contractor for the project, Design Collective of Baltimore is the architecture firm, and leasing of the street-level retail and restaurant space will be handled by Streetsense. Delivery is expected in Spring 2019.

  1. I'm good at Spot the Difference, but I can't find any in your first 2 photos. What am I missing?

  2. The existing apartment building in the background is two stories taller in the second picture :)

  3. Both link to the exact same picture. Good catch.

  4. These pics are at least a couple weeks old. The entire building is above grade ~1 floor. Robert, I get that you just use these as filler posts, but I think most people would agree that accuracy is more important than having 1 post a day. Why not simply have two posts some days (like whenever you took these pics) and have zero posts some days?

    1. Sorry, punk. Construction updates are not "filler posts." They're among the most popular posts. I'm covering news countywide as one person, competing against MoCo cartel and angel investor-funded outlets who have entire staffs. Yet, to your chagrin, there is news every day on my sites, including these important updates on the many construction projects around downtown Silver Spring.

"Stop the news! News every day! I can't take it anymore! I keep blabbering about the loss of the MoCo Council house organ Gazette. Why can't we have fake news just once a week like the Gazette, instead of real news from Robert Dyer every DAY????!!!!!"

Meanwhile, you just spent 7 hours talking to yourself as four different personalities in this comment section. You're probably not in the best position to criticize someone who is actually doing something constructive for the community and county.

    2. I was the one asking about the photos. I didn't mean to do something wrong. I'm sorry.

    3. You realize "Anonymous" isn't one person's name, right? I don't know why you were so insulted by my comment. You don't agree that it'd make sense to post the pics when you take them rather than waiting a couple of weeks? That's fine, it's just a suggestion.

No one would mind if you posted twice on some days and zero times on others - if that's the reason you hold off on posting the pics. I didn't mean for my comment to cause whatever breakdown you just went through.

This guy is so incredibly rude to his readers, and seems to be unstable.

I was also gonna ask when the photos were taken, since I walked past the site last week and noticed that they were above ground as well. Glad I didn't.

    5. 12:51: Is this your fifth personality to speak in this comment section? You might have a future in the theater. Anyone who read the comment I was responding to knows you were trolling, not posting a legitimate comment. Trolls are not "readers." You've used this line of attack over on my Bethesda site.

I know you're frustrated that people are getting the real story about what's going on in Silver Spring and Montgomery County from this site, instead of the County Council's preferred outlets. Try not to act out, and instead act your age.

The lack of self-awareness is staggering.

  5. Thank you for the update! I'm really excited to see how this transforms DTSS. We moved here 17 years ago and the tranformation in that time is amazing. Every time a new building goes up it just increases the energy in the area. DTSS is becoming more of a destination to live and find entertainment. With the Purple Line just 4 years away, expect to see this trend continue.

  6. Not only are photos #1 and #2 identical, but photos #3 and #5 are nearly identical to the first two, with the focus varying only by a few degrees between each shot. Even the last two photos, #6 and #7, show a very similar view to each other.

  7. You guys are a freak show. Who the hell cares if the photos are a bit out dated. Just walk over there and see for yourself. You seem obnoxious and a bore to be around.
