Montgomery County police were called to a County-owned parking facility in downtown Silver Spring Tuesday morning, April 2, 2024, after someone reported having been the victim of a 2nd-degree assault there. The assault was reported in the parking lot at 8:56 AM Tuesday. That appears to be the parking lot outside of Progress Place. A day later, on an indirectly-related matter, the Montgomery County Council announced it would be taking steps to address the crime wave in downtown Silver Spring.
