Sunshine Smiles to relocate in Silver Spring in 2026

Sunshine Smiles Dental Care will make a short move in the summer of 2026. The dental clinic is currently located at 923 Bonifant Street in downtown Silver Spring. Next summer, it will move over to 8404 Georgia Avenue. Drs. Mike Horng and Roberto Aleman offer dental services in English, Spanish, and Mandarin.

Be Miyghty Fitness moving again in Silver Spring

Two things are true about Be Miyghty Fitness in downtown Silver Spring: The mixed-martial-arts and yoga studio isn't wedded to one spot when a better one opens up, and Google search still can't come to grips with the unique spelling of the gym's name. Be Miyghty is on the move for the second time this year, and this time it's a short one. Their new studio is right next door to their old one, at 937 Ellsworth Drive. A construction crew was working inside the new 937 Ellsworth location on Sunday. No signage has been attached to the exterior yet.

Windsor to relocate at Wheaton Plaza

Windsor is planning to move inside Westfield's Wheaton Plaza mall. It is currently located on Level 1 of the mall, next to Hot Topic. The women's fashion boutique will soon relocate upstairs to Level 2, across from the food court in the JCPenney wing of the mall. "Coming soon" signage has been posted across the future storefront. Windsor has been family-owned and operated since its founding in 1937 - very impressive!

Charlotte Russe moving at Wheaton Plaza

Charlotte Russe is preparing to relocate inside of Westfield's Wheaton Plaza mall. It's going to be a short move, but there is something in it for you, as the store is holding a moving sale. Charlotte Russe will be relocating from the Costco wing, down the corridor, into a space across from H&M in the Target wing. Still likely to remain unanswered amid all of this moving drama: Who was Charlotte Russe?

MyEyeDr. to make short move at Downtown Silver Spring

MyEyeDr. will make a very short move next year at Downtown Silver Spring. The eyewear store will move over one space into the former New York & Company spot. That will more than double the size of the shop. Their existing location, which fronts Georgia Avenue, is now being marketed for lease by property owner Peterson Cos. with a 2024 availability.

DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse relocating in downtown Silver Spring

DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse has closed at 910 Ellsworth Drive at Downtown Silver Spring. The store plans to relocate across the street to the Ellsworth Place mall at 8661 Colesville Road, where it will reopen on March 24, 2022. In the meantime, DSW is directing customers to its Wheaton Plaza and The Mall at Prince George's stores.

Ulta Silver Spring location sets moving date

The Ulta store at Downtown Silver Spring is relocating within the Peterson Cos. development, as I previously reported. Now there is an opening date for the new store, next Tuesday, September 29, 2020. The new Ulta location is at 8510 Fenton Street.

Atlantic Guns relocates Silver Spring store to new Rockville location

After 70 years in business, family-owned Atlantic Guns has consolidated its Rockville and Silver Spring gun shops into a brand-new Rockville location. The new Atlantic Guns is now open at 15813 Hungerford Drive (MD 355) in the King Farm/Derwood area of Rockville. It's right up the street from Wendy's and McDonald's.

Atlantic Guns carries long guns, handguns, ammo, and firearm accessories. They also sell non-lethal defense products like Tasers, camping and survival gear, archery equipment, knives and fishing supplies.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, only ten customers may enter the store at a time. The first customer at the new store received a free Benchmade knife.

Big Greek Cafe to move in Silver Spring

The Big Greek Cafe is going to make a not-so-big move in downtown Silver Spring. They will be relocating from their current location at 8223 Georgia Avenue to the former Fat Fingers space at 8213 Georgia.

Sprint merges, moves in downtown Silver Spring

Sprint has merged with T-Mobile, and the impact can be seen on the streets of downtown Silver Spring. The unified telecom has also merged its bricks-and-mortar retail outlets into one store at 8668 Colesville Road.

Ulta moving at Downtown Silver Spring

Ulta is relocating at Downtown Silver Spring. The beauty store appears to be taking advantage of the temporary coronavirus lockdown to make a move from its current Ellsworth Drive spot at the Peterson Cos. development. A permanent sign has already been installed at the new location, 8510 Fenton Street.

New Silver Spring U.S. Post Office

The main U.S. Post Office in downtown Silver Spring has moved to a new location at 940 Thayer Avenue, in the ground floor of the Thayer & Spring apartments. It was previously at 900 Wayne Avenue. Here is a preview of the post office interior.

Forever 21 relocating at Wheaton Plaza

Forever 21 is moving at Wheaton Plaza. Their new location will be near JC Penney and the Dollar Store. The move will be made this spring.

Last day on Georgia Ave. today, as Regal Paint Centers in Silver Spring readies move (Photos)

Today is the last day of operation for Regal Paint Centers' current location at 8211 Georgia Avenue, in downtown Silver Spring. They are preparing to move their store to 8121 Piney Branch Road, and that new location will open on July 5.

Between Thursday and then, you can visit their Wheaton location at 2200 University Boulevard W. in Wheaton. Take advantage of the last day of the moving sale today - discontinued paints are only $2.50 per gallon.

Silver Spring paint stores to swap locations this summer (Photos)

Regal Paint Centers at 8211 Georgia Avenue (a.k.a. Benjamin Moore) will relocate to 8121 Piney Branch Road on July 5, 2017. That building is currently occupied by a Sherwin-Williams paint store. Sherwin Williams, in turn, is relocating to the old Pyramid Atlantic building at 8230 Georgia Avenue, in downtown Silver Spring.

Just last weekend, there was no sign of Sherwin-Williams. Now the sign is now up at 8230 Georgia, and build-out of the interior is underway. The fire engine red walls outside are probably the best ad for the paint.

Shoe and apparel retailer Journeys is moving at Wheaton Plaza. Their new location will be near Payless.

Joe's Record Paradise requests construction permit in Silver Spring (Photos)

Finally some progress to report on the latest move of the legendary Joe's Record Paradise in Silver Spring. The store has filed for a construction permit from Montgomery County for the interior build-out of its new location. That new space is in the basement of the SunTrust building at 8700 Georgia Avenue, where there currently is no sign or indication that the store is coming there - but it is.
