Fifteen other Triangle businesses have applied for similar awards, but their applications are still being reviewed, County officials say. The most any one business can receive over the entire construction period is $75,000. There are about 90 businesses nearby that the County thinks could be impacted by the construction and disruptions in the area.
I feel bad for them. There are only few parking available and most of them are reserved for staff and employees. Moby Dick is my favorite place but recently due to parking i eat somewhere else. I don't think most business will survive the development.
ReplyDeletethis is what the county wants! businesses out and force the property owners to sell to them so they can redevelop as they see fit. the county has grand plans for the area, has for years... traffic is already a huge nightmare in and around the area. MC wants more mid-rise/hi-rise apartment and condos so they can generate more $$$. need more $$$ and must build vertically to get it

ReplyDeletelet's not treat all small businesses as equals - there are some very nice small businesses, like moby dick - but there are an equal number of pawn shops, check cashing, and other like stores in that area. good riddance to those.
ReplyDeleteYES! THANK YOU. Wheaton's time has finally come, and as a Wheaton homeowner, I'm more than ready!! Not only will my home value go up, but I will have to venture to Rockville, Bethesda, and Downtown Silver Spring less often for decent food and entertainment. As far as I'm concerned, the few good restaurants in Wheaton now (e.g., Cristina's, The Limerick, Ledos, BeClaws, Giselle's) will likely make it. To heck with the rest. And don't give me traffic congestion as a reason to leave Wheaton to decay. If you don't like traffic, you might as well leave th DMV.
DeleteMost of the small businesses in Wheaton are fronts for whatever operations. I wish 90% of those businessEs close shop and leave Wheaton. They are dragging the area down in every way.
