Piney Branch Pool at 7510 Maple Avenue in Takoma Park is closed "until further notice," the Takoma Park Police Department announced yesterday. The boiler that heats the water in the pool has failed, and must be replaced. Further updates will be issued as the emergency repairs advance, but no timetable for reopening is known at this time. Although it is within the City of Takoma Park, the 25-yard indoor pool is operated by the Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Department of Recreation.
