Randolph Crossing Rite Aid becoming Walgreens

The Rite Aid store at 12222 Veirs Mill Road is being converted into a Walgreens. Walgreens acquired Rite Aid in 2015, and has taken three approaches to its stores: keep the Rite Aid brand, but convert the store's pharmacy into a Walgreens; convert the store into a full-blown Walgreens location; or close the store entirely.

Here we are getting an actual Walgreens. I'm still a Drug Fair man, the chain whose D.C.-area stores were acquired by Rite Aid in 1987. The more things change...

The new Rite Aid store has opened in the Zalco Building at 8701 Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring. A Redi Clinic is part of the new store.

The new Rite Aid store under construction in the Zalco Building in downtown Silver Spring will include a walk-in clinic, similar to the Minute Clinic concept offered by competitor CVS Pharmacy. Rite Aid is introducing these clinics in select markets.

The new Rite Aid at 8701 Georgia Avenue is still under construction. I'm surprised it's still not completed by now, considering I wrote about it back in September when it was behind a white construction wall.

Whenever it gets done, this has to be a bonus perk for residents of The Premier apartment building, which is right next door to this, the Zalco Building.

New Rite Aid store coming to downtown Silver Spring (Photos)

A new Rite Aid drugstore is under construction at 8701 Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring. It will be on the ground floor of the Zalco Building, also headquarters of Zalco Realty. As noted on the sign above, the store is currently hiring.
