Maven at Wheaton apartments burglarized

A burglar allegedly broke into the Maven at Wheaton apartment building at 10914 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton at 5:50 AM on April 25, 2024, Montgomery County police say. Officers responding to the scene found evidence of forced entry at the complex. Property was stolen from an employee lounge. Police describe the suspect only as a Black male of unknown age.

The AVA Wheaton apartments are on the verge of delivery at the corner of Georgia and Blueridge Avenues in Wheaton. A sign at the busy corner displays just how close you are to various amenities and Metro from this location. The location of the lobby entrance and grade of the building going downhill are somewhat reminiscent of the office building this project replaced, for old timers with any nostalgia.

Developed by Avalon Bay, AVA Wheaton holds 322 units and on-site parking. There is no retail or restaurant space. You'll notice Avalon Bay has also installed some fancy new streetlamps on their side of Blueridge.

The AVA Wheaton apartments are actually starting to match the grey-white-orange-brown tones of the renderings we've been looking at for at least four years. Some green Tyvek sections remain, with one of those being the Georgia Avenue-facing facade on Blueridge Avenue that will bear large "A V A" initials. Developer Avalon Bay is now promising delivery for Summer 2017 for this 319-unit building, with no retail or restaurants on the ground floor.

It took Avalon Bay awhile to get going on the construction of the future AVA Wheaton apartments, but check out the tremendous progress they've made now that the pace has picked up. Located at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Blueridge Avenue, the residential-only building replaces a venerable bank and office development.

When will the AVA Wheaton deliver? Avalon Bay's AVA Wheaton website is promising a Spring 2017 opening, but WMATA's bus advisory for the Y2/Y7/Y8 routes say those buses' stop in front of the building isn't expected to reopen until August 31. Of course, first move-ins at buildings often occur prior to full completion of the project.

There has been a fair amount of progress at the construction site of Avalon Bay's AVA Wheaton apartment building, at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Blueridge Avenue. What looks like mostly the parking garage facility for the project is towering several stories above ground level.

They're still digging at the future site of Avalon Bay's AVA Wheaton apartments at 2425 Blueridge Avenue at Georgia Avenue. As you can see, some sheeting and shoring work has been done. There's even a little staircase in one of the lowest areas.

The 319-unit apartment building with no retail is expected to deliver in 2017.
