POP TARTS FROSTED PUMPKIN PIE REVIEW (VIDEO)

Pop Tarts has two limited-edition flavors for Halloween, and the most promising variety is Frosted Pumpkin Pie. I tested it out in this video review. The Halloween Countdown continues on the Robert Dyer Channel.

KRISPY KREME GHOSTBUSTERS DONUTS REVIEW (VIDEO)

Krispy Kreme in the Fallsgrove shopping center may have the greatest Halloween-related treats of 2014. During October, the shop is selling official Ghostbusters donuts, which feature either the famous movie logo atop slime-green colored frosting, or the equally-famous Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man - complete with hat! In keeping with the Stay-Puft theme, both donuts are filled with a ton of Stay-Puft marshmallow creme filling. How do they taste? Watch my epic review now to find out!

TACO BELL STARBURST STRAWBERRY FREEZE REVIEW (VIDEO)

Taco Bell has a brand new Freeze beverage, and it's another collaboration with a major food brand. The Mexican fast food chain has teamed up with Starburst candy to create... the Taco Bell Starburst Strawberry Freeze. A slush-style frozen beverage, the Starburst Freeze is available in regular size and large. Does it really taste like a Starburst, and is it worth heading out for? Watch my review and find out!

SHEETZ PUMPKIN PIE LATTE REVIEW (VIDEO)

The Halloween Countdown continues on the Robert Dyer Channel. Pumpkin Spice Lattes are a dime-a-dozen these fall days (except for McDonald's odd decision to not bring theirs back this year), but I stumbled across an alternative to the ubiquitous beverage while on the road this weekend.

Sheetz has a different concept - a Pumpkin Pie Latte, rather than Pumpkin Spice. The ordering process is unique as well at Sheetz. The convenience store and mega gas station eliminates the need to use Starbucks lingo at the counter (and the often misspelled name on your cup) by letting you place the order on a touchscreen. Pick exactly what you want added to your coffee on the screen (including an extra shot of pumpkin pie flavor or an espresso shot), pay at the cashier counter, and wait for your number to be called to pick up your Pumpkin Pie Latte.

Was it worth the (short) wait? Watch my review to find out. Sheetz is in several nearby states, including Maryland (of course), Virginia, West Virginia, and its home base of Pennsylvania.

BLAZE PIZZA REVIEW (VIDEO)

The new Blaze Pizza at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda opened last Thursday, and now you can watch my video review of the pizza. I also tested out their dessert specialty, the S'mores Pie.

For testing purposes, I usually stick to a cheese pizza to better analyze the sauce and crust. That was the case at Blaze Pizza, where I ordered the Classic Red Sauce and a combination of mozzarella and Gorgonzola cheese. The Gorgonzola did seem to go quite well with the flavor of the red sauce, so I would strongly recommend it. You can select whatever toppings you like, as you will see in the video, which shows you the ordering process. As you'll see in my complete video review, there is a nice char on the bottom of the crust.

The S'mores Pie has a nice twist here, replacing the standard graham crackers with McVitie's Biscuits from England. Prince William would approve. Also, I recommend you ask to have your S'mores Pie put into the open fire oven for a more authentic campfire s'mores experience.

Blaze Pizza has a convenient location, right inside the entrance of the Old Navy wing, across from Aroma Espresso Bar. Like Aroma, Blaze Pizza will have an outdoor patio. That wasn't open yet Wednesday, but the modestly-sized dining room seemed comfortable. You can also see the pizzas going into the roaring fires of the oven from the dining area. Service was excellent, particularly considering it was a soft opening.

DOUGH ROLLER PIZZA REVIEW (VIDEO)

The much-anticipated Dough Roller in King Farm Village Center opened on Saturday. A first step in the Ocean City, MD-favorite's expansion into the DC area, the Rockville location is currently the only Dough Roller outside of the Maryland resort town. This is arguably one of the biggest restaurant openings in the region this year, given the following Dough Roller has among Ocean City vacationers.

Although the restaurant is open, some finishing touches will be added in the coming weeks, according to a Dough Roller spokesperson. One example is a new exterior sign that is directed toward pedestrians passing outside the store. A sign holder appears to be in place to the left of the main sign, for a third sign installation. A lot of work has been done on the gleaming interior since I came past a week ago.

The menu for the Rockville Dough Roller features breakfast (starting at 7:30 AM), burgers, a hot dog, sandwiches, salads, chicken wings and fingers, crab bites, and - of course - their famous pizza and all-day pancakes. I like that their crab cake is made with 100% blue crab.

What from the OC menus doesn't show up here? Dayton's Chicken (which is only available at one of the OC locations, anyway); the Dough Roller Supreme, Meat Explosion and Pepperoni Obsessed pizzas; Italian and Seafood Dinner platters; and funnel cake fries. But many favorites did make the leap across the Bay, including the Crab Burger. And at least a couple of items that seem to be exclusive to Rockville. Having said all that, the menu changes with the time of day (for example, the breakfast items were not on display in these photos), and additional items may be added over time.  Click menu photos to enlarge for detail:

HERR'S SLOPPY JOE POTATO CHIP REVIEW (VIDEO)

One of the great American dinner solutions for decades has been the Sloppy Joe. Some say it was invented in Iowa in the 1930s, but many of us tend to think of the Manwich of the 1970s-present.

"What's a Manwich?"

Of course, now Manwich-type products exist that don't even require you to add your own ground beef - it's already in there. Now Herr's of Pennsylvania brings us a Sloppy Joe potato chip. As a major Sloppy Joe/Manwich fan, I'm skeptical it can be done. Particularly given the fact that I don't see either beef or green pepper on the ingredient list.

Let's go ahead and test it out. Will it be a just the equivalent of a sandwich, or a Manwich? Watch my review and find out.

TACO BELL QUESARITO REVIEW (VIDEO)

Taco Bell's newest menu item is the limited-time-only Quesarito. Available in beef, chicken and steak variations, the Taco Bell Quesarito includes Latin rice, chipotle sauce, reduced-fat sour cream, and melted cheeses, all wrapped in a grilled quesadilla.

Essentially a burrito wrapped in a quesadilla, the Quesarito is $1.99.

TASTYKAKE STRAWBERRY GREEK YOGURT PIE REVIEW (VIDEO)

Tastykake is the latest company to join the Greek yogurt craze. One of their new products, the Strawberry Greek Yogurt Pie, is just that - a pie filled with strawberry Greek yogurt. This is more of a dessert than a health food product though, as the Nutrition Facts demonstrate. Now, let's give it a try in this video review.

MCDONALD'S PEACHES AND CREAM PIE REVIEW (VIDEO)

McDonald's has just added another limited-time-only item to the menu - the McDonald's Peaches and Cream Pie. True to its name, the pie features diced peaches and cream filling, inside a buttery, golden brown crust. How does it taste? SMART ONES FISH AND CHIPS REVIEW (VIDEO)

This frozen dinner has one of those silver-lined packages, designed to make the fish and french fries crisp in the microwave. How did that work out? We'll find out in the video.

The fish and chips are an Alaskan Pollock filet, and crinkle-cut french fries, respectively.

TACO BELL A.M. CRUNCHWRAP STEAK REVIEW (VIDEO AND PHOTO)

The Taco Bell breakfast menu also includes a breakfast variation on the popular Crunchwrap. You can order the new A.M Crunchwrap in three variations: steak (my choice), sausage or bacon.

Inside the warm, grilled tortilla are Taco Bell's marinated thick-cut steak, scrambled eggs, a hash brown patty, cheddar cheese, and jalapeño sauce. It is a heartier entree than the new Waffle Taco.

HEALTHY CHOICE TOP CHEF CRUSTLESS CHICKEN POT PIE REVIEW (VIDEO)

Top Chef? A TV dinner with that branding sets the bar pretty high, doesn't it? Healthy Choice's Top Chef-inspired Crustless Chicken Pot Pie brings great expectations. This is going to be a gourmet, deconstructed version of an American classic, chicken pot pie.

Or is it?

Watch my review, and find out. Crustless Chicken Pot Pie features sliced chicken breast, carrots, peas, corn and dumplings (standing in for usually-rich pot pie crust), in a cream sauce.

It comes in the Cafe Steamers format. Which means you cook the whole thing first, and then pour the ingredients into the sauce, that steams below in its own dish.

This dinner has a surprisingly-high number of calories for a diet frozen entree.

MCDONALD'S MIGHTY WINGS REVIEW (VIDEO) CHICKEN WINGS AT MCDONALD'S

McDonald's Mighty Wings have begun to arrive in Montgomery County, just in time for football season. Watch my review to see how they rate.

These chicken wings have a crispy coating, and a Cayenne pepper zing. Sauces are just the usual McNuggets choices; I recommend Ranch and Spicy Buffalo.

3 wings will set you back $3.19, minus the additional tax.

The wings are scheduled to roll out at all McDonald's locations over the coming days.

POPEYES CHICKEN WAFFLE TENDERS REVIEW (VIDEO)

Popeyes new Chicken Waffle Tenders arrived in restaurants Monday. Last night, I stopped by Popeyes to try them. Here's my review, including close-ups of the tenders and special sauce.

HOSTESS TWINKIES FIRST BATCH REVIEW (VIDEO)

Hostess Twinkies returned to the shelves 2 days early at Walmart. Because the Montgomery County Council has blocked Walmart from opening any additional stores in the county, I was forced to drive up to one of my favorite shopping centers, Milestone, in Germantown.

Sure enough, they had Twinkies.

My understanding is that Walmart is not going to carry Twinkies that have been frozen. That means Walmart Twinkies give us the best opportunity to evaluate the true flavor and texture of this new Twinkie.
