Inside the home, officers found the missing 13-year-old girl, and her alleged kidnapper, Christian Alexander Delgado, 37. MCPD did not specify if Delgado is a resident of the home.

Arrest in Connecticut Avenue Estates auto theft

Montgomery County police have arrested a man they say stole a vehicle in the Connecticut Avenue Estates neighborhood earlier this month. The car was stolen from a home in the 12200 block of Berry Street over the night between August 4 and August 5, 2024. Police say the vehicle was left unlocked. The car has since been recovered.

WMATA puts L8 Metrobus on chopping block in doomsday budget

A major bus route connecting Aspen Hill and the Friendship Heights Metro station is among 67 Metrobus lines WMATA is proposing to eliminate under its "doomsday" budget. The L8 Metrobus travels along the Connecticut Avenue corridor between Aspen Hill and the Chevy Chase area. It is the top bus route along that corridor; I rode this bus almost every day in high school. Governments and transit agencies often release doomsday budgets prior to asking taxpayers to shell out more to avoid the painful cuts proposed.

Maryland to fund $250,000 in upgrades to Dalewood Playground

Good news for the neighborhood of Connecticut Avenue Estates in Silver Spring: Money is now available to update and upgrade Dalewood Playground at 12018 Dalewood Drive. Montgomery County did not provide the needed funds to date, but the State of Maryland has now agreed to contribute $250,000. The money will go toward existing plans for the park, such as the design and construction of a new playground, ADA-acccesible walkways, new drainage and stormwater management infrastructure, and a maintenance access route from Connecticut Avenue. How much of that can be accomplished with the new funds is unclear, as elected officials had asked for $800,000, according to a bond bill fact sheet.

Proposed route change for Ride On 33 would benefit Connecticut Avenue Estates (Photos)

A bus route connecting three of my favorite places in Montgomery County (Glenmont and Connecticut Avenue Estates, and Bethesda) could be in for some changes. Montgomery County's Department of Transportation is proposing to make service changes to Ride On Route 33 (Bethesda Medical Center Metro station to Glenmont Metro station).

The change would divert the bus into the Connecticut Avenue Estates neighborhood near the Glenmont end of the route, to provide better service to that community. Here is a rare case where a bus route change would actually provide more service, rather than less.
