First look at Thayer & Spring lobby - with free Starbucks coffee! (Photos)

Here's the first look inside the lobby of the new Thayer & Spring apartments, located at 915 Silver Spring Avenue in downtown Silver Spring. Take note that among the lobby amenities for residents is a Starbucks coffee dispenser, a rare find in moribund Montgomery County's apartment buildings.

front and center in the well-appointed lobby
Let's take a look around the rest of the property while we're here, as well. You can see the public space and green space are nearing completion out in front of the building.

  1. This has to be one of the ugliest buildings around. It's massive and the design details to try and break it up into distinct segments is really a poor attempt.

  2. agree 100%, though I do like that 750+ new residents will be living (and walking and spending) directly in Fenton Village. Hopefully this project is very successful and they build phase 2 behind it sooner rather than later.

I'm beginning to think you legitimately have a mental problem, Bob.

    1. 11:31: The lack of Starbucks coffee machines in lobbies, and the federal-government-statistics-verified moribundity of Montgomery County do not equate to me have a "mental problem," chump.

Did you really have to make this nonsensical statement?
Starbucks coffee dispensers are just as common in new apartments
in Montgomery County as they are anywhere else. No to mention, actual Starbucks cafes can be found practically every 300 feet in the county's urban areas.

    1. He has to get the word moribund into every sentence.

Cashier at Macdonald’s: Do you want fries with that?
      Robert: MORIBUND

    2. 5:16: LOL - what other buildings have them, then? "Not to mention" that free Starbucks in your building lobby is totally different from walking to a Starbucks in the heat or cold where you have to pay for the coffee.

  5. You measure if our DEEP STATE county is MORIBUND by a coffee machine in a building? Most normal people don't go from high rise to high rise looking for a cup of Joe. Most normal people don't decide where to live by a coffee machine. Grownups know how to use their own coffee machines.
You look really silly and creepy going into places where you don't even live.

Do you not have a job? Maybe you should get one.

    1. 8:57: "Deep State county?" No, I measure Montgomery's moribundity by the standard federal government statistics that say it is.

You're the one without a job - in fact, being unemployed is what you're best known for before the MoCo cartel took you on as a boy friday.

A Starbucks coffee machine isn't just a regular coffee maker. That's why you don't find many of them in moribund Montgomery County. You "look really silly" trying to tout the economic bonafides of a County that has even fallen behind Culpeper and Rappahannock counties to rock bottom in the region. Heckuva job, Brownie!

  6. What is your point?

Yes we know the County is moribund. Yes we know it is mostly Han's and the Council's fault. Yes we know you are the only one with a plan to fix it. You say all this all the time.

Do you really think posting about it week after week year after year is going to change anything?

    1. 8:22: Yes, in fact it already has. The Post took my moribund message - a message it had never, ever spoken of before 2018 - and made it the top issue in the election.

Conveniently, they focused only on the executive race, and laughably did not endorse or even write about the man who has been preaching their new message for over a decade - me!

Despite their collusion with the cartel, the fact is that now Montgomery's moribundity is widely known and accepted.

Similarly, years ago the Council never spoke of universal Pre-K. I touted it in the 2010 and 2014 election. After 2014, Riemer and others adopted - in words only - my Pre-K platform. This is historical record, not just me claiming it.

The Council also in the past said "transit-only solution" for the American Legion bridge. Now they've moved towards my position, accepting an extension of the Express Lanes.

These are just a few examples of "change" brought about through my enterprising reporting and analysis.

Repetition is key - I've learned from the best at the Washington Post. You don't just print a propaganda point once. You drive it into the ground, over and over again. As you can see - and as the Post, CNN and Hollywood can tell you - it works.

  7. What is the new construction being built behind Thayer and Spring on Fenton Street. Is that phase 2 of T/S or a different apartment building?

    1. @Miriam That building is 900 Thayer Avenue. It is a 124 unit building. Yes it is different apartment building.

  8. Having a Starbucks coffee machine vs a Keuring is different.
Is that coffee machine only for residents or I may walk in and get a cup?

    1. I suppose if you went in to take a tour you might be able to.

So this raises the obvious question - how many apartment lobbies have Starbucks coffee makers, in NoVa, versus in MoCo?
