Window screens are still in place, so no sneak peeks inside just yet, but the interior is shown in illustrated form on the signs. Black Lion Cafe Silver Spring opening delayed
Black Lion Cafe at 8240-A Fenton Street in Silver Spring had been scheduled to open yesterday, January 2. The cafe announced the opening has been postponed, but did not specify the reason. No new opening date has been given, but I will post when it is announced. Some potential customers reported seeing people inside; alas, those were employees undergoing training.

UPDATED: Black Lion Cafe opening January 2 in Silver Spring (Photos)
UPDATE - 3:39 PM: Black Lion Cafe just announced on Twitter that the Silver Spring location will open on January 2, 2023
Here's a sneak peek at the impressive interior of Black Lion Cafe, opening soon at 8240-A Fenton Street, in the ground floor of the Fenton Silver Spring apartment building. The aesthetic manages to look both organic and sleek at the same time, with a strong emphasis on wood tones. This is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood, and even more so for those who happen to live right upstairs.
Black Lion, which sources its coffee directly from the three regions of Ethiopia renowned for superior beans, has an existing location in Rockville. This location has been expected to open this month after some delays. Stay tuned for an opening date.

Your Whole Body to become a coffee shop in Silver Spring
Your Whole Body, an organic wellness and nutrition store at 8646 Colesville Road, is closing. A source tells me the new tenant will be a coffee shop. This is just a few doors down from The Fillmore. Expect the interior conversion to take some time here, as it converts to a new use.

Car Wash Coffee targeting June opening in Kensington (Photos)
Car Wash Coffee has been in the works for a while at 10700 Connecticut Avenue in Kensington. Now, after more than a year, there is light at the end of the tunnel. A sign posted in the window is promising a June 2018 opening, and there's a lot of work going on inside.
I have a lot of nostalgia for this building as a Roy Rogers in decades past. I've always been perplexed as to why various fast food chains were never able to take the ball from Roy's, and run with it at this prime, "last gas" location. Thousands of people pass by here daily heading to or from the Beltway, and a drive-thru could have really cleaned up with megacash.
The establishment is owned by the owner of the adjacent Mr. Wash car wash, hence the name, and why you see the familiar and trusted Mr. Wash character cheerily raising a piping hot cup of coffee on one of the shop's Coming Soon banners. Prepare for a cup of coffee like you've never had before at Car Wash Coffee: they will be serving Vigilante Coffee. But wait, there's some breaking news, as well: they'll also be selling Gaithersburg's famous Neal's Bagels, authentic New York-style bagels.
