Wheaton dry cleaners closes - with customers' clothes locked inside!

You might have noticed Super Cleaners had closed at the Wheaton Park shopping center. They were actually evicted from the premises, according to the Montgomery County Department of Consumer Protection. But still locked inside the shuttered store are customers' clothes. Hate when that happens! Are you one of those customers?

If so, you're in luck. The DCP is staging an intervention to get folks' laundry back. Today through Friday, May 20, DCP staff will be at the dry cleaners to assist you in retrieving your clothes between 3:00 and 7:00 PM. They will come back again Saturday, May 21, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

DCP says the operation is possible thanks to the cooperation of the shopping center's owner.

  2. I wanted to use them, but they were expensive compared with Zips and the other dry-cleaner across from H-MART. Also, the alteration prices were expensive so I opted for other places to get the clothes altered. People need to be cognizant of the surrounding and price services accordingly so the can get business in and be able to survive and pay their rent.

  3. There are two new restaurants coming to Wheaton. Could you report on them please (Donna Bessy Pupuseria and Chutney Indian). We need some positivity about Wheaton. Reporters and bloggers seem to focus on negatives in Wheaton while we have more positive than negative happening in this little neglected, yet evolving gem of Montgomery county.

    1. Don't worry once they complete redevelopment of downtown wheaton and library perception will completely change. Be patient until 2020.

  4. Good luck finding any details until 2020; nobody writes about it anymore. Try typing redevelopment in Google.

  5. We lack a major source of reporting in the County. The only source of information is this voluntary effort by Robert, which is greatly appreciated. I really suggest that he grows his blog into a small news website with paid adds to cover his costs. Also, I suggest he recruits some other people to contribute to his blog. All takes time and effort and I am not sure if he is willing to invest more into this great blog than he has already.

    1. Interesting slide presentation. However, this seems kind of out-dated in that it proposes developing over the metro/bus depot first. This is not the case. The are developing over Parking Lot 13 and then the current Mid-County Services Center. My understanding is that there is no development planned for over the metro/bus depot since the county will not fund the support/roof on which any building construction might take place.
