Wheaton IHOP real estate changes hands

The Wheaton IHOP building was sold last month, but unlike some real estate transactions, this one may actually help keep a Wheaton landmark in place. IHOP has been a fixture in the Wheaton community at 2526 University Boulevard West since 1970. The current owner of the business, William Moore, is very much a part of that community, as a lifelong resident and with numerous local business and charitable organizations.

Now Moore's company, Moore Hospitality Properties, LLC, also owns the property. MHP bought it from Crepe Trust, an entity that acquired much of the IHOP chain's real estate in the early 1970s. According to real estate records, the purchase price for the iconic 3104 SF building was $2,000,000.

  1. As a Wheaton resident, I'd love to see ihop gone. I don't and won't eat there. It's prime real estate that could be much better utilized.

    1. One person not choosing to eat or wanting to eat at this particular establishment and proposing no alternative "better" utilization of the space does not present much (if any) of a convincing reason.

    2. jeez - the owner of the IHOP is a decent person and is committed to improving Wheaton. and lots of people love this IHOP and are happy and excited it is staying. It's ok you won't eat there - you probably wouldn't fit in.

  2. IHOP is a landmark? I mean, I bet Led Zeppelin didn't even bother to eat there after their legendary gig at the rec center.

    1. It wasn't built yet when Led Zeppelin played in Wheaton, but it is indeed a landmark at that corner, where a lot of people make the left turn to go up to Georgia.
