Palisades Lounge opens in downtown Silver Spring

A number of readers have been asking about the Palisades Lounge, which has been in the works for a while at 8211 Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring. I'm pleased to report they have just opened for business, and will have live music and hookah.

Doors open at 12:00 PM today, as they celebrate the Grand Opening. This was formerly a paint store, so this is a nice upgrade for Silver Spring. They also have a rooftop area, as you can see in the photo above.

TTT: Tacos, Tortas & Tequila in Silver Spring to have rooftop deck

Another rooftop is coming to downtown Silver Spring. Chef-owner Ivan Iricanin had earlier applied for a liquor license for TTT: Tacos, Tortas & Tequila, a new venture he plans to open at 8407 Ramsey Avenue. Now more details about the project are coming to light.

Iricanin plans to construct a rooftop deck for the new restaurant, as well as an outdoor patio. TTT will be open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 AM-2:00 AM, Fridays from 9:00 AM-3:00 AM, Saturdays from 7:00 AM-3:00 AM, and Sundays from 7:00 AM-2:00 AM.

Quarry House Tavern hopes to reopen in mid-to-late February in Silver Spring

The comeback of the Quarry House Tavern from a disastrous 2015 fire is nearly upon us. Construction (or re-construction) of the space at 8401 Georgia Avenue should be complete in about two weeks. With Montgomery County inspections in mind, the bar's ownership predicts they could reopen in mid-to-late February.

Last call at Quarry House Temporary in Silver Spring (Photos)

Last night was the last night at Quarry House Temporary in downtown Silver Spring. The town's highest-profile bar is about to begin a months-long move back to its old spot at 8401 Georgia Avenue, which was damaged by fire almost two years ago.

Their temporary spot across the street had been best known around the world as Piratz Tavern. As you can see, the original location of Quarry House Tavern is not on the verge of opening anytime soon.

SILVER SPRING

In downtown Silver Spring, live music begins at McGinty's Public House at noon with acoustic performers.

From 3-5:30 PM, Pete Moss and the Bog Band will be joined by Irish dancers from the Culkin School of Dance.

The Lloyd Dobler Effect was scheduled to play outdoors from 4-7 at the fountain, but its unclear how that will work out with the snow.

Damion Wolfe will play upstairs at 6:00 PM, with Brian Frank playing downstairs.

Thieves will close it out at McGinty's, starting at 9:00 PM.

There is a cover charge of $10 starting at 6 PM.
