Armed robbery at White Oak Shopping Center

An armed robbery was reported at the White Oak Shopping Center yesterday afternoon. The robbery was reported at an "appliance/electronics" retailer in the 11200 block of New Hampshire Avenue at 2:00 PM, according to crime data. The Sears Appliance Repair Center appears to be the only business matching that description on that block.

  1. Given that the Sears closed over a year ago, this did not happen at Sears. It probably happened at one of the two mobile phone stores.

    1. I think you could be correct about that. There is a Sears appliance repair operation that is still using that address publicly - are they not actually still in some part of the building?

    2. No, there is no use of the building. Transformco is trying to market the site using JLL. The property is under a long-term ground lease controlled by Saul Centers. Saul Centers has been very quiet regarding anything happening--like Saul buying out the lease and moving forward with redevelopment.

    3. Thanks, that's very helpful information. I thought it was odd that they were using that address.
