Takoma Park police find no evidence of gunfire near Opal Daniels Park

Takoma Park police have investigated the second shots-fired call they've received in the last week near a park, but this time found no evidence of any gunfire in the area. City officers were on patrol in the vicinity of Maple Avenue and Maplewood Avenue around 5:07 AM on December 3, 2022, when they heard what sounded like gunfire. In the moments after the sounds drew the officers' attention, 911 dispatchers received several calls from residents who reported hearing shots fired in the areas of Sheridan Avenue, Maple at Lincoln, and Lincoln at Jefferson.

Officers began canvassing that entire area, including Opal Daniels Park, on foot. They were unable to locate any shell casings or other evidence that would indicate a gun had been fired.
