MCPS to host community meeting on safety and security at Paint Branch HS

Scandal-wracked Montgomery County Public Schools will hold a public meeting on safety and security at MCPS on March 13, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Paint Branch High School, located at 14121 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville. MCPS students have been victims of violent assaults and rape, which have made local and national headlines, as well as sexual abuse perpetrated by MCPS teachers and staff.

MCPS even failed to execute a basic background check on a security staffer at one school, which would have shown his criminal record of assaulting a woman in his past. That staffer was arrested twice for having sex with a 17-year-old female student at the school where he was the head of security. A state audit, which was ignored by our inept, soft-on-crime County Council, showed major cybersecurity weaknesses at MCPS. To register for the meeting, RSVP online.

Paint Branch's Jean Germain chooses Towson

Paint Branch High School varsity football standout Jean Germain has chosen Towson University to launch his college career. The Burtonsville resident is ranked as the 23rd-best player in the state of Maryland by MaxPreps.com.

Another Tigers team had their eye on the 6'5", 340-pound tackle: Clemson University. Germain has earned All-Met First Team honors from the Washington Post, according to a statement from Towson, and is a shot-putter on the Paint Branch track team.

Towson Tigers 2019 season tickets will go on sale starting on January 7, 2019.

Teen charged as adult after bringing stolen gun to Paint Branch HS

Paint Branch High School suffered its second legitimate weapons scare in six days yesterday, when a 17-year-old illegally entered the school with a stolen .38 revolver. The teen was not a Paint Branch student, and the gun was loaded. Paint Branch's school resource officer was informed by school security that the stranger had just given them a false name and false student ID number. After providing the false information, the suspect then turned and fled the school building.

The SRO located a subject fitting the suspect's description walking on Briggs Chaney Road near the school. He attempted to flee from the officer when approached, but was successfully apprehended by the SRO. School security then confirmed the suspect was the person who had illegally entered the school.

Within the suspect's shoulder bag, the officer located the loaded .38, which detectives have since determined was stolen in Pennsylvania. 17-year-old Elijah C. Nyamekye of the 100 block of Wilton Oaks Drive in Silver Spring charged as an adult with possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a person under 21 years old, possession of a stolen handgun, trespassing on school property, and disrupting school activities.

Last Thursday, a Paint Branch student was arrested after bringing a pocket knife and handgun ammo to the school.

A Paint Branch High School student was arrested at school Thursday morning, and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. Police responded to the school at 14121 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville at 8:34 AM yesterday morning, after school administrators reported finding the student with a pocket knife and six rounds of handgun ammunition in a plastic bag.

Officers searched the school and the student's home, and detectives concluded the 16-year-old had not been in possession of a firearm at the school, nor in his home. The student was released to his guardian, and the matter will be handled by the Department of Juvenile Services.
