Fentanyl bust in Silver Spring

Maryland-National Capital Park Police on patrol in the Long Branch area of Silver Spring made an arrest of an alleged fentanyl dealer last week. Police say they were stepping up patrols in that area due to recent citizen complaints about open-air drug dealing. Park Police officers observed what they believed to be an individual attempting to sell fentanyl from a vehicle, and pulled the driver over. The driver was allegedly found to be in possession of fentanyl pills, and a quantity of cash. Officers placed the driver under arrest.

Alleged cocaine dealer arrested after shooting at Dick's Sporting Goods in Wheaton

A Silver Spring man is in Montgomery County police custody after he allegedly fired multiple rounds into the front windows of Dick's Sporting Goods at Westfield's Wheaton Plaza mall on April 7, 2025. Police say Damonne Antonio Shayne Martin, 23, had been removed from the store earlier that day, after being accused of attempted shoplifting of merchandise. Martin allegedly returned to the store at 9:00 PM that night with a handgun, and fired several shots through the windows.

Detectives identified Martin as the suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Martin was located by officers on April 15, and taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, police say he was in possession of a loaded handgun and cocaine. This led detectives to seek and obtain a search warrant for Martin's home, where they allegedly found more cocaine that they determined Martin intended to sell.

Evidence Montgomery County police say
was found in searches of Martin's person and home

Martin has been charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and multiple firearm related charges. However, his name does not currently appear in the Maryland court database.
