Wheaton redevelopment groundbreaking date set

There's now an official date for the Wheaton redevelopment groundbreaking. It will take place on Sunday, June 4, at Lot 13 in the Wheaton Triangle. The event has been scheduled as part of Taste of Wheaton. Part of Lot 13 will then close as soon as the next day, as construction begins on the new Montgomery County government office building. A Bozzuto apartment building will be constructed separately on the other part of Lot 13.

  1. Looking forward to this development. I would also like to see development on Blueridge - Hickerson Lot 14.

  2. It is uncertain if Bozzuto's residential building will happen

    1. It's pretty sad when you are having trouble getting financing for a residential building 150 yards from a Metro station in one of Montgomery County's Special Urban Districts.

    2. Wow, I had not heard that. I don't know what the occupancy rates for the other new buildings in Wheaton are, in terms of if the market isn't there for an additional building right now.

    3. The Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee (WUDAC) January 10 2017 meeting notes say that "Al Roshdieh, Director, MCDOT...touched on intersection changes for Reedie and Grandview and also on a private apartment project that is also slated for Lot 13. A financing arrangement fell through but Bozzuto has until September to make
      other arrangements."

  3. I hope we don't lose the rich tapestry of small businesses in downtown Wheaton.

  4. There's literally a 0% chance the residential building happens. It's an absolute joke. Another silver spring transit center type debacle.

    1. i don't see why that's a dumb comment. there's literally silence from anyone in the County on the project.

    2. ? Read three comments up if you think the county hasn't discussed the project. It's a private development; it has nothing to do with the SSTC or the sh!t development group of that project.

    3. It was one RFP.
