IHOP coming to Olney

The International House of Pancakes is coming to Olney. An existing 4900 SF restaurant at Olney Village Center is being converted into an IHOP at 18145 Village Center Drive. There are currently IHOP locations in Wheaton, Takoma Park, Rockville, and near White Oak in Montgomery County.

    1. IHOP tends to prefer stand alone buildings.

    2. Sakura is gone. Our fav restuarant is being replace by ANOTHER national chain coming to Olney that serves up rather unhealthy fare. What's next, a Jiffy Lube??!! I thought Olney was a cut above.

  2. Well, Sakura is at 18147 VCD...

    2. Very, very glad to hear. While I will welcome Ihop as it means I will no longer have to travel to Wheaton to eat there, Sakura remains my favorite place to eat in Olney.

    3. You are lying. Ihop is already tearing up the place

    4. 11:56: Thanks, Jackson! I was able to post some pictures of it this morning. Trying to find out when they're opening, but IHOP isn't responding yet. Let me know if you hear anything.

    5. I am sad Sakura closed. Jason obviously knew that it was happening. Well, another IHOP. I guess I will have to go to Benihana in Bethesda.

  5. Just for the record, as a review of the article above will show, I never stated Sakura was being replaced. In fact, the address given in the article, 18145 Village Center Drive, is not the address of Sakura.

    1. 18145 is the number on the back doors of Sakura. You can see it on Google Maps street view if you're curious.

    2. Sakura covers 18143, 18145 and 18147 as the party shop does 18149 and 18151. Please check your source and make corrections so that there is no confusion to any readers.

  6. Bummer about Sakura...

  7. Well, it says 18143 over Sakura's door. (Corporate HQ seems to think that location is 18147.) The next business up is the party shop, at 18151. There doesn't appear to be any empty space in between. Where is the Ihop going to go? (Also, cite? Thx.)

  9. I guess we'll all have to eat at the Cheebueger Cheebueger one last time

  10. If you type in the new address where IHOP is to be located, Google marks it near TJMaxx. The Hallmark store and Radio Shack have both closed in that same area, which makes sense.

    1. It does, but the post says it is a pre-existing restaurant space. There is only Sakura and Cheebueger Cheebueger in that stretch. So unless the article or the Sakura manager is mistaken get your burgers before they are gone!

  11. The hallmark store is going out of business I believe that is where it's going!

  12. The hallmark space is not big enough for IHOP. I bet...the article is incorrect.

    1. The article is correct. 4900 SF space. As someone has noted, at least two restaurant spaces are currently available for lease by the landlord of the shopping center.

  15. Robert Dyer is the reporter who did the research necessary to print the information above. Why do people think it's ok to bypass the journalist because it "doesn't seem right?" IHOP is coming to Olney. He knows where and he can't disclose that information yet. That's all.

    1. So we should take journalist at their word? Have you not watched the news lately?

    2. It'll be freezing in the supposed Hell before I blindly believe a reporter.

  16. Not for nothing, but I always thought that Sakura should be open for breakfast. Can you imagine the mother of all omelettes you could make on that hibachi grill? The chef could flap jacks right onto your plate. I hope the Manager is listening.

  17. I heard from a reliable source that it is Sakura's space. Cheeburger Cheeburger isn't big enough.

  18. No matter where it ends up, the parking situation will get even worse. That parking lot was not made for so many restaurants, not to mention shopping stores.

  19. If you read the manager's post, he said Sakura is not closing "for sure" which leads me to believe that it is possibley closing if they can't make a deal with the landlord. That's how I read his post.

  20. Cheeburger is closing at the end of August. Just got an email from them (Fan Mail Club). I guess that is where IHOP is going.
