Police called after assault at restaurant in Takoma Park

Takoma Park police were called to a restaurant during lunchtime on November 26, 2024, after someone reported having been the victim of a 2nd-degree assault there. The assault was reported at Tijuana's Mexican Cafe at 949 University Boulevard E. at 12:40 PM. Police say that the victim was assaulted by an unknown male, whose description has not yet been released by detectives.

Takoma Park KFC/Taco Bell to get makeover

The KFC/Taco Bell restaurant at 7720 Blair Road in Takoma Park will be getting a makeover in the coming months. Plans include renovation of the dining room, and new paint and exterior branding details for the building facade.

Banta Baa restaurant coming to Takoma Park

Banta Baa, a restaurant serving West African cuisine, is coming soon to Takoma Park. The restaurant will be located at 8000 Flower Avenue, in a small strip mall.

Silver Spring-Takoma Park restaurant week 2016 is underway

Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker launched the 2nd annual Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week last night at the newly-opened Not Your Average Joe's in downtown Silver Spring. Hucker was the driving force in founding the 6-day event last year, and is once again hosting it this year.

Participating restaurants include All Set Restaurant and Bar, Cubano's, El Gavilan, El Golfo, Not Your Average Joe's, and Republic. For a full list, visit the official website. All 32 participating restaurants will offer at least one of the following deals through September 11, 2016:

$12 two-course lunch menu

$17 three-course lunch menu

$17 two-course dinner menu

$27 three course dinner menu

Wingstop coming to Takoma Park this fall

Wingstop will open a Takoma Park location in the Takoma Langley Crossroads Center at 7659 New Hampshire Avenue. The restaurant, which specializes in chicken wings served in a retro aviation-themed setting, will open this fall. This 1350 SF location follows the chain's successful arrival in Aspen Hill in July 2014.

Republic hosting ACORN wine dinner April 8 in Takoma Park

Republic in Takoma Park will be hosting a wine dinner featuring selections from ACORN of the Russian River Valley on Wednesday, April 8 at 7:00 PM. ACORN's co-owners Bill and Betsy Nachbaur will be on hand for the 5-course dinner, prepared by Chef Danny Wells.
