Shocking armed robbery, stabbing at bus stop in Glenmont


Montgomery County police responded to the latest shocking broad-daylight crime in the County yesterday in Glenmont. According to police, the adult male victim was waiting for a bus in the 12300 block of Georgia Avenue around 6:00 PM Monday. He was approached by a male suspect, who allegedly proceeded to stab the victim in his upper left arm. The suspect grabbed unspecified "personal property" from the victim and fled on foot, police say. He remains at large.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with what police call non-life-threatening injuries. Strangely, police have not released a physical description of the suspect. A truly horrifying incident, and one that again reflects the disturbing trend of violent crimes being committed during daylight hours in Montgomery County.

Stabbing at Aldi in Calverton


This morning's news takes us back once again to Calverton. Montgomery County police were called to the Aldi at 12012 Cherry Hill Road at the Orchard Center on June 13, 2025. At 8:31 PM that evening, a male suspect allegedly displayed a weapon and stabbed a man at the grocery store. Police identified and arrested a suspect. 

Juan Rivas-Jordan, 44, of no fixed address, has been charged with felony 2nd-degree attempted murder, felony 1st-degree assault, misdemeanor theft, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held without bond at the County jail. 

According to Maryland court records, Rivas-Jordan had been arrested for theft and trespassing in a separate incident in March. On March 15, he posted $1000 bond and was released pending trial. Rivas-Jordan did not appear at his trial on May 5. Judge Eric John Nee issued a bench warrant for his arrest. That outstanding warrant was served when Rivas-Jordan was arrested for the alleged June 13 stabbing.

Knife-wielding assailant attacks in Takoma Park bank parking lot


A man wielding a knife suddenly attacked a bystander in the parking lot of a Takoma Park bank on December 23, 2024, Takoma Park police report. The victim was in the parking lot of the Capital One bank at 1181 University Boulevard at 6:40 PM, when they were attacked. Police say no motive for the attack has yet been established. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police describe the suspect only as a "male."

Suspects arrested in armed robbery, stabbing at Kensington Safeway


Montgomery County police have apprehended two Prince George's County men in relation to the January 30, 2024 armed robbery and stabbing at the Safeway grocery store at 10541 Connecticut Avenue in Kensington.  William Fernando Calix, 31, and Christian Alexander Gonzalez, 18, are accused of stealing merchandise. Calix is accused of brandishing a knife, and then cutting a store security officer on the chest with it. The employee was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Calix, of New Carrollton, and Gonzalez, of Hyattsville, were located by officers in the 3300 block of University Boulevard W., and arrested. Gonzalez was charged with theft via a criminal citation and released. Calix was charged with theft and first-degree assault. He was released on a $10,000 unsecured personal bond. Police have not released either suspect's mugshot.

Victim robbed at knifepoint at Silver Spring restaurant; 3 stabbed in separate McDonald's attack


Montgomery County police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a downtown Silver Spring restaurant Monday night, January 9, 2023. The victim was robbed at knifepoint at a restaurant in the 1100 block of Wayne Avenue at 7:24 PM. Just the next morning, three people were stabbed at the McDonald's at 8407 Colesville Road.

Student arrested in slashing/stabbing at Montgomery Blair High School


A Montgomery Blair High School student was slashed with a knife at 10:01 AM yesterday in the school parking lot. The student was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three hours later, another student was taken into custody. Charges are pending against that individual, who allegedly was the assailant in the attack.

Arrest made in stabbing outside Wheaton Metro station


Montgomery County police announced they have arrested a suspect in the November 1, 2020 stabbing of a man outside the Wheaton Metro station. Nelly Lovette Moore, 22, of the 9200 block of Hummingbird Terrace in Gaithersburg was arrested and faces assault charges. Detectives say they do not believe the suspect and victim knew each other. Moore was transported to the County Central Processing Unit, and is being held on a $5,000 bond.

Stabbing at Wheaton Plaza

A man was stabbed at Wheaton Plza around 4:48 PM yesterday, Montgomery County police report. The unidentified victim was found at the mall by first responders with life-threatening injuries.

Based on their initial investigation, police believe the attack was not random. The suspect remains at-large. Anyone who may have been a witness, or has information regarding this incident, should contact detectives at 240-773-5530.

Stabbing in Silver Spring

A man was stabbed on Fenton Street in Silver Spring Tuesday, according to Montgomery County police. Officers responded to the 8500 block of Fenton around 5:41 PM that day, and found a 24-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest. The victim is in stable condition at a local hospital. Detectives say he did not know his assailant, who engaged in a verbal altercation on Ellsworth Drive.

Jonathan (Jo’Nathan) S. Worth, age 24, from the 8100 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, and reckless endangerment.  Worth is currently being held without bond.

Stabbing in Long Branch area of Silver Spring

A man was stabbed in the 8500 block of Piney Branch Road in Long Branch around 7:00 PM tonight. He was transported to a local hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer. Montgomery County Police are investigating and seeking suspects in the case. The motive for the stabbing is not yet known.

Rockville teen charged in Aspen Hill stabbing

Montgomery County Police say a teenager has been charged as an adult in last week's fatal stabbing at an Aspen Hill gas station on Georgia Avenue. Elmer A. Galindo of Rockville has been charged in the as an adult in the homicide of Jose Santos Fuentes of Aspen Hill, also 17.

An officer saw Galindo fleeing the vicinity of the double stabbing, and caught him in the 14000 block of Grand Pre Road. The officer noticed Galindo’s pants were bloody, and found a knife on Galindo's person.

Galindo was charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, one count of armed robbery, and one count of robbery. He is being held without bond.

Police say their initial investigation suggests the altercation stemmed from a dispute over an earlier drug transaction. They have not yet announced any gang involvement in the incident. Previously, police had stated they were looking for as many as four suspects in the case.

Galindo's other alleged victim remains hospitalized in serious condition, according to police.

SILVER SPRING STABBING SUSPECT TO VICTIM: " YOU ARE GOING TO DIE TONIGHT! "

Montgomery County Police detectives are turning up the heat on the still-at-large suspect in the September 29 attempted robbery and stabbing at the Forest Park Apartments. They plan to hand out flyers with the suspect's description around the Piney Branch Road apartment complex this afternoon around 4:00 PM. That description is more detailed than the previous one.

Police say the suspect approached the female victim early that evening (police responded at 7:46 PM) and demanded money. When she failed to comply, he said, "then you are going to die tonight." After knocking the woman to the ground, he stabbed her several times with a knife. A passerby called police. The victim survived and has been discharged from the hospital.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 17-19 years old, 120 pounds, thin build, medium height, black hair, with a black and white pattern bandana covering the lower part of his face, and wearing a blue shirt, “skinny” blue jeans, an unknown color baseball cap, and a black belt.

UPDATE ON STABBING AT FOREST PARK APARTMENTS IN SILVER SPRING

The violent robbery attempt Monday, that left a woman in serious condition with multiple stab wounds, took place at the Forest Park Apartments in the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring. Montgomery County Police say the victim was walking near the apartment complex, when she asked for money by the suspected robber. When she declined to comply, he threw her to the ground and stabbed her with a knife.

The suspect, still at large, is described as a Hispanic male of medium height, wearing a scarf over his face, and wearing a dark shirt.

SILVER SPRING ROBBERY SUSPECT AT LARGE AFTER STABBING WOMAN ON PINEY BRANCH RD.

A woman was stabbed multiple times during a robbery attempt last night in the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road, around 7:45 PM. She has been hospitalized with serious injuries. The robber is still at-large. He is described only as a Latino adult male, wearing a dark blue shirt, and who wore a blue bandanna around his face during the attack.
