Rue 21, Shoe City open at Ellsworth Place in Silver Spring (Photos)

Rue 21 and Shoe City have opened at Ellsworth Place, joining Kung Fu Tea (which opened Saturday) as the newest additions to the mall in downtown Silver Spring. Rue 21 has a 7000 SF store by Forever 21 Red on Level 3. This is the closest Rue 21 store to the D.C. line.

Shoe City occupies 4872 SF on Level 2, and carries brands like Nike, Converse and Vans. A complete revamp of the mall by owners Petrie Richardson Ventures and Rockwood Capital has brought numerous big-name tenants and anchors to the property.

"These retailers add a trendy eclecticism to the evolving hip experience we are creating at Ellsworth Place,” Terry Richardson, president and COO of PRV, said in a statement. “From downtown Silver Spring’s first-ever standalone bubble tea shop Kung Fu Tea to the latest iteration of the Forever 21 brand -- Rue 21 -- and the mod footwear from Shoe City, Ellsworth Place has the best from national retailers – just in time for Black Friday and Holiday shopping.”

  1. Richardson made an error. Rue 21 is unrelated to forever 21. F21 red is an offshoot of forever 21, though.
